All of it is a separate signal from Rockstar's service status above: a platform can be healthy while GTA Online is down, and the other way round.

How we check
Is GTA 5 down right now?+
The banner at the top of this page is our best combined read: Rockstar's own service-status feed plus GTA 5's live Steam player count. When Rockstar reports Down or Limited, that is the official word. When the player count falls sharply below its recent baseline, that is an early warning that often beats the official page.
How do you know if GTA is down?+
Two signals. First, we read Rockstar's service status feed, which is the official source. Second, we record the live Steam player count every few minutes - a sudden cliff in that number across the whole player base is a reliable early sign of server trouble. Normal daily ups and downs do not trip the alert.
Where is the official GTA server status?+
Rockstar publishes the authoritative service status on their support site, linked above. For console players especially, that page and the @RockstarSupport account on X are the official word - our player-count signal is Steam PC only.
