Dr. Isiah Friedlander is Michael's therapist, and he is more interested in Michael's money than his mental health. He charges enormous fees for sessions that rarely offer any advice worth the price. Behind the scenes, Friedlander profits from what Michael tells him in ways that have nothing to do with helping him, treating the therapy sessions as an opportunity rather than a responsibility. The sessions work as a framing device for Michael's state of mind, letting him talk through his frustration with his family, his past and his restlessness in a setting that looks like progress but rarely delivers any. Friedlander's smug bedside manner only adds to the joke. He operates out of a private practice rather than any larger institution, which is exactly the kind of setup that lets him get away with doing so little for so much money.
Appears in therapy-session cutscenes throughout Michael's storyline.
