The Families are a predominantly African-American street gang rooted in the poorer neighborhoods of South Los Santos, including Chamberlain Hills, Strawberry, and Forum Drive. They are identified by their green colors and have a long-running turf war with the rival Ballas. You meet the Families through Franklin Clinton, who along with his friend Lamar Davis and fellow member Stretch is affiliated with the gang early in the story. That connection makes the Families one of the player's first real windows into Los Santos street life before the story moves on to bigger scores. There is no single named leader, since the gang runs on figures like Lamar and Stretch rather than one boss. Expect their rivalry with the Ballas and the Vagos to shape much of Franklin's early story content.
