The Beaver is Castor canadensis, the largest rodent in North America and famous for reshaping entire waterways by felling trees and building dams. Its flat, paddle-shaped tail helps it swim and signals danger with a slap on the water. Beavers are mostly active at dusk and through the night, working steadily on lodges and dams that can back up a stream into a pond over time. Freshwater streams and wooded ground away from Leonida's coast suit this animal's needs closely, since it depends on trees and slow-moving fresh water rather than anything tidal. Official trailer footage confirms the beaver is part of the game. Rockstar has not shown a dam or lodge in motion, or how the animal reacts to a player nearby.
