GTA 6 is available to preorder now on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with two main editions: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. Most players should buy the Standard Edition unless they care about the Ultimate Edition’s story bonuses, since Rockstar says Standard owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later.
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. Preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026, which also applies to redeemed code-in-box copies.
GTA 6 Preorder Guide: Editions, Bonuses, and Prices
Rockstar has listed two GTA 6 editions: Grand Theft Auto VI Standard Edition and Grand Theft Auto VI Ultimate Edition. Both are available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The Standard Edition includes the base game. If you buy the digital version before November 20, 2026, it also includes the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The Vintage Vice City Pack includes the ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern.
The Ultimate Edition includes the base game, the Vintage Vice City Pack, one month of GTA+, and the Ultimate Edition Upgrade. On the US PlayStation Store, the Standard Edition is listed at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is listed at $99.99. Xbox also lists the same two prices, plus a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade for $20.
The Ultimate Edition Upgrade is the real difference. Rockstar lists bonuses including the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers, personalized weapon variants, Vice City Styles, Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles, Ganado Retro Build, Rideout Customs Mod Shop, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Shitzu Squalo, Stock 305 Clothing Store, ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Garage, Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop, Goodtime Gear, PTT Youngin$ Compound, and Classic Car Collection.
Rockstar says the Ultimate bonuses are tied to Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items found behind each chapter. That makes the Ultimate Edition more than a simple launch-day item pack, though Rockstar hasn’t shown exactly how much of this content affects normal play.
Should You Buy Standard or Ultimate Edition?
Buy the Standard Edition if you mainly want GTA 6 at launch and don’t care about extra vehicles, clothes, weapons, and locations. It gets you the full game, the preorder bonus pack, and the free GTA+ month if you buy the digital version before November 20, 2026.
Buy the Ultimate Edition if you already know you’ll want the story extras. The $20 price gap is easier to defend if you like having extra cars, weapon skins, shops, and character style items from day one. It’s a weaker buy for players who tend to ignore bonus cosmetics after the first hour.

The safest move is Standard first, upgrade later. Rockstar says Standard Edition owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately through PlayStation and Xbox storefronts, and physical buyers can upgrade after redeeming their digital download code.
What Comes With the GTA 6 Physical Edition?
The physical version is a code-in-box release. Rockstar says the box contains a digital download code and does not include a disc. That’s an ugly compromise for collectors, because the box exists, but the actual game still depends on a download.
Physical copies are expected to be available for shipping and pickup from retailers starting November 12, 2026. Codes can be redeemed once received, which means physical buyers can still preload before launch if they get the code in time.
There is no physical Ultimate Edition right now. Rockstar says physical Standard Edition owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade from the PlayStation or Xbox stores after using their Standard Edition code.

Prerequisites Before You Preorder GTA 6
You need a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s support page only lists those two platforms for GTA 6 preorders, so PC players don’t have an official preorder option yet.
You also need to check your account region before buying a code. Rockstar says PlayStation code restrictions are based on the region tied to your platform account, while Xbox codes are not region-locked. Buying a PlayStation code from the wrong region could cause activation problems.
The GTA+ bonus needs extra attention. Rockstar says digital buyers who purchase GTA 6 before November 20, 2026 get one month of GTA+ at no extra cost, but the membership auto-renews after that month unless canceled. On PlayStation, the offer must be redeemed by March 31, 2027. On Xbox, it must be redeemed within 180 days after purchase.

The Best GTA 6 Edition to Preorder
Standard Edition is the better preorder for most players. It gets you GTA 6, the preorder pack, and the GTA+ month without asking you to pay extra for story bonuses before anyone outside Rockstar has played the game.
Ultimate Edition makes sense if you’re already sold on the extra vehicles, shops, clothes, weapon variants, and Jason and Lucia bonuses. Since Rockstar says the upgrade can be bought separately later, there’s no real pressure to pay the extra $20 now unless you want the bundle locked in before launch.
