The Burmese Python is Python bivittatus, a huge constrictor native to Southeast Asia that has become one of the most damaging invasive species in the real Florida Everglades. Escaped and released pets are behind the population now established there. These snakes can grow well past four metres long and have no natural predators in Florida, which lets them prey heavily on native mammals and disrupt the food chain across the wetlands they occupy. Leonida's tangled, Everglades-style swamp country is a direct match for that real-world reputation, right down to organized removal efforts in the state it is based on. Official trailer footage confirms this python is in the game. Whether one can be hunted, avoided or simply glimpsed in the reeds has not been shown by Rockstar.
