Crayfish here covers Procambarus sp., the small freshwater crustaceans that look like miniature lobsters and live in ponds, ditches and slow-moving streams across the southeast. They spend their days scuttling along the bottom and burrowing into soft mud. Several Procambarus species are native to Florida specifically, and they matter to the wider food web as a steady food source for wading birds and fish. Leonida's freshwater backwaters and swamp edges are the natural habitat for an animal that needs slow water and a muddy bottom to hide in. This entry comes from the September 2022 leak rather than official footage, so treat it as unconfirmed. Nothing about catching one, or how it behaves near a player, has been shown either way.
