The German Shepherd is Canis lupus familiaris, a working breed developed in Germany in the late 1800s and prized ever since for its intelligence and trainability. It is one of the most recognizable dog breeds in the world. Police forces, militaries and guide dog programs all rely on German shepherds for the same reasons families keep them as pets, a mix of loyalty and capability that few breeds match. Leonida's mix of family homes and law enforcement gives this breed an obvious double role across the map. It appears in GTA 6 trailer footage, so Rockstar has confirmed its place in the game. Nothing about how it might behave toward a player, friendly or otherwise, has been shown.
