Avon Hertz is a tech billionaire who hires the crew for what looks like ordinary corporate work before revealing a much bigger plan. That plan turns out to involve Cliffford, a rogue artificial intelligence capable of causing a global catastrophe. Hertz plays the part of a visionary founder, confident and used to getting his own way, and he treats the crew as tools for his ambitions rather than partners. As the Doomsday Heist unfolds across its three acts, his scheme grows more dangerous and more personal, and he becomes the main human face of the threat you are working to stop. His money and technology give him a reach ordinary criminals do not have. By the final act, stopping Hertz means shutting down both the man and the intelligence he built, since neither one is safe to leave running.
