The Compact EMP Launcher is a heavy weapon in GTA 5 and GTA Online, added with The Contract update and priced at $525,000. Its datamined damage is 0, with a fire rate of about 49 rounds per minute, a range figure of 150 and a clip of 1. The 0 means it does not hurt anyone directly. What it fires is an electromagnetic pulse round. A hit on a vehicle shuts its engine and electronics down for a short time, which stops a car dead, drops a helicopter out of the sky and leaves an armored vehicle unable to move or return fire until the effect wears off. Players on foot are not harmed. The single-round clip and the reload after every shot mean you get one chance and then a pause, so aim it at the vehicle that matters most. It is a niche piece of kit that earns its place in vehicle-heavy freemode fights and in missions with pursuers on your tail. Against players on foot it does nothing, so pair it with a real gun.
Buy it from any Ammu-Nation for $525,000 once you reach rank Purchasing an Agency.
