The Whooping Crane is Grus americana, one of the rarest birds in North America and, at well over a metre tall, also one of the largest. It is almost entirely white with black wingtips and a patch of bare red skin on its crown, and it stands out immediately against a marsh. Decades of conservation work have pulled the species back from only a few dozen birds to a small but real population, including a non-migratory flock reintroduced to Florida. It wades through open wetlands hunting crustaceans, insects and plant tubers, which fits neatly with Leonida's wide, Everglades-style wetlands rather than any wooded or urban corner of the map. It appears in the official GTA 6 trailers, so Rockstar has shown it on screen already. Whether it can be approached, disturbed or hunted in any way is not something Rockstar has revealed.
