The Banshee GTS is the fastest regular non-HSW car in GTA Online at 138 mph, while its HSW version leads at 172.5 mph. Top speed is not the same as lap pace. The HSW FMJ MK V records the quickest HSW lap in our current car data.
Those answers use different rules. “Regular” excludes Arena variants and cars whose rocket boost changes a straight-line test. We list those special cases separately so that a Vigilante does not get presented as an ordinary road-car purchase.
Fastest GTA Online cars at a glance
Question | Current answer | Tested result |
|---|---|---|
Fastest regular car without HSW | 138 mph / 222.1 km/h | |
Fastest HSW car | 172.5 mph / 277.6 km/h | |
Quickest regular race car in our standard circuit data | 0:57.624 | |
Quickest HSW circuit car | 0:54.704 | |
Highest special-car top speed | 146.75 mph / 236.2 km/h |
The standard circuit answer excludes Open Wheel cars, rocket-boost vehicles, submersibles, and weaponized cars. If all car classes and special systems are included, the BR8 is quickest in the standard lap dataset at 0:54.555 and the Vigilante follows at 0:55.872.
Compare tested lap times and top speeds if you want to change the class, HSW, or price filters yourself.
Fastest regular cars in GTA Online
This table ranks road cars by sustained tested top speed without HSW. Arena variants and active rocket-boost cars are excluded. Price is the base value currently stored in the GTATracker database. Trade prices, conversion charges, and weekly discounts can change the amount paid.
Rank | Car | Class | Top speed | Lap time | Base price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Sports | 138 mph | 1:00.621 | GTA$1,989,500 | |

5 | Sports | 134.5 mph | 1:00.844 | GTA$3,465,000 | |
6 | Super | 133.5 mph | 0:57.774 | GTA$2,965,000 | |

10 | Super | 131.5 mph | 0:59.577 | GTA$2,890,000 |
The Banshee GTS wins this test by 0.5 mph over the Weevil Custom. That margin is small enough that road layout and driving consistency will matter more during normal play. The more useful difference appears in the lap column. The Banshee GTS is more than four seconds quicker around the test circuit than the Weevil Custom.
The Pariah remains a strong non-HSW value choice. It is 2 mph slower than the Banshee GTS but costs GTA$569,500 less before discounts. The FMJ MK V is the better circuit choice from this table, recording 0:57.774 despite ranking sixth for straight-line speed.
Fastest HSW cars
Hao's Special Works upgrades are available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC Enhanced. They are not available in the PS4, Xbox One, or PC Legacy versions. The HSW conversion cost must be added to the vehicle purchase price and is deliberately not folded into the base-price column below.
Rank | Car | Standard speed | HSW speed | Gain | HSW lap | Base price |

1 | 138 mph | 172.5 mph | 34.5 mph | 0:57.574 | GTA$1,989,500 | |

The fastest HSW car is not the quickest HSW car around a circuit. The Banshee GTS reaches 172.5 mph, but the FMJ MK V completes the test lap 2.87 seconds sooner. The Niobe is also 2.185 seconds quicker than the Banshee GTS while giving up 13 mph in top speed.
Fastest cars by lap time
A lap includes acceleration, braking, corner speed, traction, and the driver's ability to repeat a line. That is why a car with a lower maximum speed can beat a straight-line leader.
Standard circuit leaders
Rank | Car | Type | Lap time | Top speed | Base price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Regular Super | 0:57.624 | 126.75 mph | GTA$2,750,000 | |
2 | Regular Super | 0:57.774 | 133.5 mph | GTA$2,965,000 | |
3 | Regular Super | 0:57.775 | 122.5 mph | GTA$2,845,000 | |
4 | Regular Super | 0:57.924 | 128 mph | GTA$2,875,000 | |
5 | Regular Super | 0:58.541 | 117.75 mph | GTA$2,950,000 |
This regular-car view removes Open Wheel and special weapon or boost vehicles. It is purchase guidance for conventional racing, not a claim that these are the five quickest objects tagged as cars in the database.
HSW circuit leaders
Rank | Car | HSW lap | HSW speed |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | 0:54.704 | 155.75 mph | |
2 | 0:55.222 | 145 mph | |
3 | 0:55.389 | 159.5 mph | |
4 | 0:55.823 | 141 mph | |
5 | 0:56.139 | 142.5 mph |
Which fast car should you buy?
For the highest regular top speed: buy the Banshee GTS. It leads the conventional non-HSW list and has an HSW path on supported editions.
For non-HSW value: the Pariah is the stronger price-to-speed argument. Its GTA$1.42 million base price is GTA$569,500 below the Banshee GTS, while its tested speed is only 2 mph lower.
For HSW racing: start with the FMJ MK V if lap pace is the priority. The Niobe is a cheaper base purchase and sits only 0.685 seconds behind it in our HSW lap data.
For a standard Super-class circuit car: the Emerus leads this filtered regular-car table. The FMJ MK V is 0.15 seconds behind and has the higher top speed plus an HSW upgrade path.
Use the side-by-side vehicle comparison before buying. Performance does not cover armour, weapons, seats, storage restrictions, or how a car behaves on a particular race route.
What about the Vigilante and Arena cars?
The raw car dataset places the rocket-powered Vigilante at 146.75 mph. The three ZR380 Arena variants follow at 142 mph. Those figures are real test entries, but they do not answer the usual search for a regular road car. Active boost and Arena conversion requirements change the purchase and driving comparison.
We therefore report the Vigilante as the special-car leader and the Banshee GTS as the regular-car leader. Readers who want every result without that editorial filter can use the GTA 5 vehicle database.
