The Los Santos Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for crimes committed within the city of Los Santos itself. It is the everyday face of the wanted system for anyone spending time in the urban core. You encounter the LSPD constantly in both Story Mode and GTA Online, since their response scales with your wanted level, starting with patrol officers and building up to helicopters and roadblocks the longer a chase runs. Outside the city their reach fades, handing pursuit duty over to the county sheriffs instead. As with the Sheriff's Department, there is no single named commander, since the LSPD is an institutional system rather than a story faction. Expect it to be the first responder to almost anything you do inside city limits.
