New solo players should start with the free Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid, then save toward the Acid Lab or Kosatka. Established solo players can rotate Cayo Perico with businesses. Crews should compare heist splits before launching. For passive income, combine the Nightclub and Bunker with active work instead of expecting one universal hourly rate.
Best GTA Online money methods right now
Player | Route | Required purchase | Return type |
|---|---|---|---|
New solo player | Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid | None | Verified: GTA$400,000 repeat payout, GTA$600,000 first weekly completion |
Solo player with GTA$750,000 | Acid Lab path | GTA$750,000 setup figure in our data | Community estimate: about GTA$60,000 per hour under the planner defaults |
Established solo player | Cayo Perico plus business production | Kosatka, GTA$2,200,000 | Variable primary and secondary loot, fees, and a solo cooldown |
Crew without property money | Join a host's heist | None for the joining player | Cut or fixed helper pay depends on activity |
Established passive route | Nightclub, Bunker, and selected feeder businesses | Multi-property investment | Community estimates, not guaranteed hourly income |
The correct route depends on starting cash, solo or crew play, and the amount of active work you want. Put a target into the money-goal calculator rather than buying a vehicle first and rebuilding the same savings balance.
Starting with less than GTA$100,000
Do not make a clothing, apartment, or performance-car purchase your first savings goal. Use activities with no property requirement and keep enough cash for ammunition and armour.
The Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid is the clearest current bridge into larger purchases. It can be played solo, costs nothing to start, and its Scene of the Crime finale pays GTA$400,000 after the TU 1.73 adjustment. The host's first completion after the Thursday reset pays GTA$600,000 under the new weekly-first-completion rule. Complete the setup chain, bank the payout, and repeat or mix in other activities so the opening hours do not become one repeated mission.
If you are on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC Enhanced and have not used Career Builder, read the beginner guide before creating the character. Its GTA$4 million allocation follows separate spending rules and should be planned as a startup package, not treated as GTA$4 million in free cash.
Starting with GTA$100,000 to GTA$1,000,000
The main objective in this bracket is to acquire an income-producing route without draining the account on upgrades that do not increase earnings.
The Acid Lab has a GTA$750,000 setup figure in the GTATracker business data. Its default planner rate is about GTA$60,000 per hour, but that is a community estimate. It depends on production upgrades, supplies, sale completion, and how much of the waiting time is spent on other work.
At the default input, the simple derived break-even is:
GTA$750,000 ÷ GTA$60,000 per hour = 12.5 production hours
That is not 12.5 hours of guaranteed profit. It excludes prerequisite mission time, supply costs or sourcing time, failed sales, upgrades outside the recorded buy-in, and event bonuses. Change those assumptions in the business calculator.
Starting with GTA$1,000,000 to GTA$3,000,000
This bracket has three useful solo directions:
Purchase | Stored buy-in | Default return | Simple derived break-even |
|---|---|---|---|
GTA$2,200,000 | GTA$800,000 per active hour estimate | 2.75 active hours | |
Agency | GTA$2,010,000 | GTA$350,000 per active hour estimate | 5.74 active hours |
Auto Shop | GTA$1,670,000 | GTA$250,000 per active hour estimate | 6.68 active hours |
Every hourly figure in that table is a community-estimated planner default, not a measured constant. The Kosatka number compresses variable loot, setup time, fees, and route skill into one starting assumption. Cayo also has a Rockstar-stated three-in-game-day cooldown after a solo finale, so its active-hour rate is not a continuous wall-clock rate.
Choose the Kosatka if you want a repeatable heist and are prepared to learn its intel, prep, and stealth route. Choose the Agency or Auto Shop if you prefer shorter contracts and more varied session structure. Do not buy all three at once unless you already have working capital for ammunition, armour, and required modifications.
Best solo active money methods
Cayo Perico Heist
- Solo: Yes
- Prerequisite: Kosatka, GTA$2,200,000
- Setup fee: GTA$100,000, with no fee on the first Madrazo Files run
- Return: Variable primary target, secondary loot, and office safe
- Cooldown: Three in-game days after a solo finale, which is 144 minutes
Cayo remains useful because one player can keep the solo take, but the final amount depends on the target and loot layout. Current normal primary values range from GTA$400,000 for Sinsimito Tequila to GTA$910,000 for the Pink Diamond. The Panther Statue is a GTA$1.9 million event target, not a standard roll.
Use the Cayo Perico solo guide for the route and the heist planner for fee and loot calculations.
Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid
- Solo: Yes
- Prerequisite: None
- Setup fee: None
- Finale payout: GTA$400,000 after TU 1.73
- First host completion after Thursday reset: GTA$600,000
This is the lower-risk recommendation for an account that does not own a heist property. It has setup work, so do not divide GTA$400,000 by the finale time alone and call that an hourly rate.
Agency VIP Contract
- Solo: Yes
- Prerequisite: Agency, from GTA$2,010,000 in our business data
- Current fixed finale payout: GTA$900,000 for the Dr. Dre VIP Contract after TU 1.73
- First host completion after Thursday reset: GTA$1,099,800 in the current dataset
The contract has an entire investigation chain before the finale. Its fixed payout is easier to plan around than Cayo loot, while the route can take longer than the finale card suggests. Cayo is explicitly excluded from the TU 1.73 weekly-first-completion system.
Passive and semi-passive income
No listed business is fully passive from purchase to cash. Production may continue while you do active work, but supplies, popularity, stock management, and sale missions still require attention.
Business | Stored buy-in | Default hourly estimate | Derived break-even |
|---|---|---|---|
Nightclub | GTA$1,080,000 | GTA$50,000 | 21.6 hours |
Bunker | GTA$1,165,000 | GTA$55,000 | 21.2 hours |
Cocaine Lockup | GTA$975,000 | GTA$35,000 | 27.9 hours |
Meth Lab | GTA$910,000 | GTA$28,000 | 32.5 hours |
Counterfeit Cash | GTA$845,000 | GTA$24,000 | 35.2 hours |
These are community estimates from GTATracker's default business inputs. They are starting points for comparison. They do not include every location price, equipment or staff upgrade, resupply choice, sale bonus, failure risk, or weekly multiplier.
The Nightclub becomes more useful when the account already owns compatible feeder businesses. Buying it first and assuming the warehouse has its mature earning profile will overstate the return. The Bunker and Acid Lab are easier to evaluate as standalone production routes, though both still depend on upgrades and successful sales.
Best crew money routes
A crew should compare net player cuts, not the gross total displayed on a heist page. Hosts can pay setup costs, spend time on preps, and then assign finale percentages. A 15% member cut and an 85% host cut do not represent equal time investment if the member joined only for the finale.
The Doomsday and classic apartment heists require at least two or four players depending on the job. The Diamond Casino Heist also needs a crew for the finale. Use the heist database to filter by crew size, then enter the actual split in the heist planner.
The 2026 Kortz Center Heist is a high-capital host route. The cheapest recorded Mansion is GTA$11.5 million and the required Art Studio upgrade is GTA$4.7 million before discounts. It can be played solo, but it is not a sensible first property. A joining crew member does not need the Mansion.
What to buy in order
For a new solo account, a defensible order is:
- Keep enough operating cash for ammunition, snacks, armour, and a practical vehicle.
- Run no-property activities such as Cluckin' Bell until you can buy an earning asset.
- Choose the Acid Lab route for production or save to GTA$2.2 million for the Kosatka.
- Add an Agency or Auto Shop if you want active contracts between cooldowns.
- Add a Bunker and later a Nightclub when the account can support the feeder-business structure.
- Buy performance cars after the income loop can replace their cost.
This order is not mandatory. A player who dislikes Cayo should not buy a Kosatka because a spreadsheet gives it a high default rate. The best purchase is one whose content you will actually repeat.
How the figures are labelled
- Official: a rule stated by Rockstar, such as the solo Cayo cooldown
- Verified: a fixed payout cross-checked across the current dataset's source set
- Community estimate: an hourly planning assumption affected by play style and business setup
- Derived: arithmetic from a disclosed buy-in and estimate
- Event-only: a temporary target or multiplier with exact dates
Active time and wall-clock time are not interchangeable. A heist may have a strong return per hour spent inside missions but a lower repeat rate once cooldown and waiting time are included. A business can produce while you run another activity, which makes portfolio planning more useful than ranking everything in one hourly column.
