Nuclear waste is a set of 30 dumped barrels resting on the ocean floor around the coastline in Story Mode. Finding every barrel completes the Waste Management collection, and the hunt doubles as one of the most profitable diving jobs in the game. The barrels are spread right around the coastline rather than concentrated in one bay, so covering the whole set means diving at multiple points around the map instead of searching one small area closely. Since this is explicitly one of the better paying diving hunts, it rewards the time spent more than most other underwater collectibles do. Because every barrel is underwater, a diving mask or a vehicle suited to underwater work makes the hunt far more manageable than trying to free dive the whole coastline.
Buy the Sonar Collections Dock in Paleto Cove, then use its submarine and the sonar app to track each barrel. Every barrel pays $23,000 on pickup.
Clearing all 30 pays a $250,000 completion bonus and the Waste Management achievement.
