How the achievement list is organised, where the rarity figures come from, and how to plan a full run without wasting time.
How many achievements does GTA 5 have?+
The base list has around 77 achievements and trophies across Story Mode and GTA Online, including the platinum on PlayStation.
What is the hardest achievement?+
Criminal Mastermind in GTA Online is widely considered the hardest, requiring all classic heists in order, with the same team, on hard, without dying.
Do cheats block achievements?+
Yes. Any cheat disables achievements until you reload a save without cheats active.
Where do the rarity percentages come from?+
The percentage on each achievement page is the share of Steam players who have unlocked it, as published by Steam. That is a real figure rather than an estimate, and it updates whenever the data is refreshed. The rarity tier on the page (common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare) is set from that percentage so the list can be sorted.
Console trophy rates differ a little, but the order barely changes: the same achievements are rare everywhere because they need the same effort.
Which achievements are the hardest?+
The GTA Online heist challenge achievements sit at the bottom of the list. Masterminds and Elitist need all three Criminal Mastermind or Elite challenges across the Doomsday Heist, which means a coordinated team of four playing carefully across many sessions. The Director Mode achievements are rare for a different reason: most players never open Director Mode at all, so unlocking every actor and location is rare through neglect rather than difficulty.
In Story Mode, Career Criminal for 100% completion and Solid Gold, Baby! for seventy gold medals are the long ones. Neither is hard, they just take a lot of hours.
Can I get every achievement alone?+
Almost all of the Story Mode achievements are solo by nature. Most GTA Online achievements can be earned solo too, including the rank ones and the business ones, and Cayo Perico lets one player complete a heist finale for the heist achievements. The exceptions are the ones that need other people by definition: co-driving in Rally Mode, the Criminal Mastermind and Elite challenges that need a full team, and the crew and race achievements.
Each achievement page says whether it is Story Mode or GTA Online and describes the practical route, including the ones where you need to find a team.
Is there a sensible order to work through the list?+
Start with Story Mode and pick up everything the story gives you naturally, then do the collectible and side-activity achievements with the maps on this site, then finish the 100% checklist. For GTA Online, rank and heist achievements come with normal play, and the specific ones (the store hold-ups, the survival waves, the bounty survival) are best done deliberately in a quiet session.
The sort by rarity on this page is useful here. The common and uncommon achievements you are missing are almost always quick wins.
